ABWH 2009 Annual Luncheon

Our annual luncheon is scheduled for October 3, 2009

SPEAKERS: Peggy Bertram Brooks and Barbara Nevergold, co-editors of Go, Tell Michelle, African American Women Write to the New First Lady.
This book is a unique publication that uses voices of women from the African Diaspora across generation, geography and genre to inform First Lady Michelle Obama of our hopes, dreams, fears and celebrations in her being the first African American United States First Lady. The book will be on sale at the luncheon and the editors will be available to sign purchased copies.

Black Women in the Ivory Tower:Research & Praxis

The Rutgers University Center for Race and Ethnicity, Institute for Research on Women, and Department of History announce a multi-disciplinary conference on African American Women in the Academy.

The ABWH 2008 Annual luncheon took place on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. The Luncheon Theme Telling Histories: Black Women in the Ivory Tower which was moderated by Dr. Rosalyn Terborg-Penn, Professor Emerita from Morgan State University and Ula Taylor, Associate Professor, African American Studies, University of California, Berkeley.
